Neuropathic Pain Management

INTRODUCTION:

We are one of the few centers that offer comprehensive neuropathy pain management. You do not have to go out of the State of Ohio to experience good quality neuropathy pain management.

Neuropathic pain which is characterized by numbing, tingling, burning , electrical shock-like sensation in your toes , feet and hands is one of the most difficult pain to manage and most often medications do not work effectively.

Have you experienced such pain after chemotherapy and all the large pain medication doses has not helped ?

OUR TREATMENT

Our treatment protocol can relieve your pain and give you your life back.

STEPS INVOLVED.

-Comprehensive history and physical examination is performed on you by our fellowship trained, Board certified physician.

-Laboratory investigations: including blood and urine samples from you are run to identify any easily fixable conditions and for abnormalities in your body.

-Nerve studies we also conduct a comprehensive nerve evaluation to pin point the exact nerve damage.

We may also do CT scan, MRI , EMG studies if your condition dictates that.

Active Treatment:

When the underlying etiology is found, we may administer some nerve blocks which is dependent on the severity of your condition and then you will go through our electrical stimulation therapy protocol and most people after this therapy see significant improvement in their pain. They are able to sleep , walk and are thankful.

Follow up:

We may do a repeat nerve studies to objectively show your nerve function has improved.

About Us

Dr. Samuel Essandoh M.D. had his residency training at the Columbia College of Physicians and surgeons at the Harlem Hospital in New York, NY.  He did his fellowship in Pain Management at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York one of the top two cancer centers in the entire United States where he was thought of as one of the best in the field of Pain management.

He holds three board certifications in Pain Management, Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine.

He has multiple publications to his credit including pain management in cancer survivors and was a content review expert for palliative medicine guidelines when he was working at the Marshfield Clinic, the main competitor of Mayo Clinic in northern Wisconsin. 

In 2011 and 2012 he was recognized as one of the top pain management physicians in America by the Prestigious Consumers' Research Council of America because of his dedication to patient care and the recognition from his peers and mentors.

Dr Essandoh is also a full member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
